Details Tab – Classifications
The Details tab displays key information about the classification. In addition to the fields displayed on the main Details page, important fields are displayed on Page 2 of the Details page. Page 2 of the Details page can be accessed by clicking the sub-tab in the lower-left part of the page.
Field Descriptions — Page 1 Tab
The following fields are displayed on page 1 of the Classification Details tab:

Icon — The icon associated with the classification is displayed next to the Classification Name field. You can modify this icon and also add a custom icon to the system.

Parent — Classification ID of the parent classification. The Classification Name of the parent is listed directly below the ID. To select or modify the parent field, click and drag a new value onto the field or use the Classification lookup.

Classification ID — Used to uniquely identify this classification.
Note:You cannot create an asset classification with the same ID that is used for an inventory classification record.

Name — Descriptive name for classification displayed in the Classification Hierarchy. The Name field does not need to be unique and is the only value displayed in the Classification List.
The name will serve as the default asset name for all assets created from this classification. Depending on whether or not the Asset Name field is locked, the user may be able to edit / modify the asset name.

Type — Type of classification, indicating whether or not the record is an asset or a location.

Model — A series of fields to enter model and manufacturer information. If all assets created from this classification share common model information, it is beneficial to enter the information on this page. The values are populated onto all new assets created from this classification.

Status — A check box used to specify if the classification is active. Clear this check box if the classification is inactive so that the classification does not show up in Classification lookups. The classification would continue to be available in the Classification module list.

Lock Asset Name Field — Indicates whether or not the Asset Name field should be locked.

Selecting the Lock Asset Name Field check box ensures that all assets created from this classification template use the classification name as the asset name. The user creating the new asset will not be able to edit the Asset Name field.

Clearing or leaving the Lock Asset Name Field check box clear indicates the Asset Name field should not be locked and allows the user to edit the specific asset name. The user creating the new asset will initially see the classification name listed in the Asset Name field, but will be able to override it if desired.

Lock All Classification Fields — Indicate whether or not all classification fields should be locked.

Selecting the Lock All Classification Fields check box ensures that all assets created from this classification template share the same classification details. The user creating the new asset will not be able to edit any of these fields.

Clearing or leaving the Lock All Classification Fields clear indicates the classification fields should not be locked and allows the user to edit the classification detail fields. The user creating the new asset will see the default values, but will be able to override them if desired.

Photo — Controls to attach or remove a photo.
This photo will become the default photo for all new assets created from this classification.
Field Descriptions — Page 2 Tab
The following fields are displayed on page 2 of the Classifications Details tab:

PM Cycle Start Date Based On — Determines the default value for the PM Cycle Based On field. The value is populated onto all assets created from this classification, and will be displayed on each asset's PM / Tasks tab.
This field determines how the start date for the Preventive Maintenance Cycle should be calculated. In most organizations, this field's value is set to PM, indicating that the cycle start date should follow the formula defined in the preventive maintenance schedule.
However, some organizations prefer to manage maintenance schedules based on other factors, such as a common department. This Classification uses Meter(s)— Indicates whether or not meter readings are maintained on assets created from this classification. Selecting this check box allows you to quickly locate assets with meter readings in the Reporter.

Meter Units — The type of units measured for each meter.

Track Meter History — Check box indicates whether or not each update to meter readings should be tracked in Asset History.
